Formatted to Help You Learn Easier

The best things about the DVDs in this series are the tools used to help make learning to Salsa extremely simple. This DVD, as well as the first, utilize close ups on key movements so that while the instructor is explaining the movements that should be made, viewers can also see what's needs to be done. Also, ample time is given actually practice the steps with the DVD, making watching and pausing to practice virtually unnecessary.

A Gift For Both of Us

My wife got me this year like I've done her for the past couple years. She got me Learn to Dance Salsa Beginner's 2 as a gift because she wanted Salsa lessons. Turned out to be one of the best gifts I've gotten in a while. We've had so much fun learning to Salsa together and it's definitely helped to keep the spark in our marriage.

Not as good as #1

You can buy volumes 1-3 now in a single 3 pack DVD set so this review is for all three of the first volumes for beginners. The DVDs have three divisions: the dance lessons, an etiquette tutorial, and some history or out-takes. The lessons are nicely paced but you realy need a partner to learn the steps well. Since the focus is on learning to dance in clubs space you don't need a ballroom sized area but you will need a good open space to practice in. The lessons have two distinct sets of instructions: for the leader and for the follower. While the couples teaching are male and female and fall into the traditional roles, I was pleased that the series does not use gendered terms because others may wish to Salsa too. I also liked the fact that these are average looking folks having fun -- no fancy costumes or heavy make-up so it is very accessible to everyone. Unlike the first DVD in the series though this one did not have extras that were as intersting. I wish I could give it a half star to really explain the variation in quality.
